In the following, we have collected a list of questions and answers concerning IMDS Plus:
I have heard that IMDS-a2 will be deprecated as of 1st June 2025. What does that mean?
In software terms, deprecation means that a product will remain usable but will no longer receive full support or updates. For IMDS-a2, this means you can continue using the client until its official End-of-Life (EOL), currently scheduled for Q2 2026. However, maintenance will be limited. Only essential updates -such as those required to keep IMDS-a2 functional - will be applied. New features introduced in IMDS will only be added to IMDS-a2 if they are critical for continued use.
What happens, once IMDS-a2 reaches its End-of-Life?
After the End-of-Life date, the IMDS-a2 client will no longer function. By that time, IMDS Plus will be fully rolled out, offering all the functionalities you’re familiar with from IMDS-a2 - now integrated into the IMDS Plus web application. From that point forward, IMDS Plus will be the sole platform for accessing these features.
What happens to my IMDS-a2 license after support ends?
You can continue to purchase IMDS-a2 licenses until its EOL. If you already have a valid license when IMDS-a2 is phased out, it will remain active for the duration of the purchased period. During this time, you’ll be able to use IMDS Plus with the same license, ensuring uninterrupted access to the functionalities you rely on.
When will IMDS Plus be fully released?
IMDS Plus is being developed and released incrementally, using an agile approach. This means that individual modules will be launched as soon as they are ready. Some features will become accessible earlier, while others will follow later. The full rollout of IMDS Plus is currently planned for early Q2 2026.
Can I try IMDS Plus before switching completely?
Yes. IMDS Plus will be accessible to all IMDS-a2 license holders. During the transition period, you can use either the IMDS-a2 client or IMDS Plus. This gives you the opportunity to explore and get comfortable with the new platform. There will be no separate trial license for IMDS Plus during this phase - your existing IMDS-a2 license grants you access.
Will there be a new license model for IMDS Plus?
Yes, a new license model is planned. While the price of IMDS-a2 has remained unchanged since 2023, we’ve added new modules over time. To ease the transition, IMDS Plus will initially be offered at the same price as IMDS-a2. However, as additional features are introduced, we reserve the right to revise the license model in the future.
How will we order IMDS Plus in the future
For now, the ordering process for IMDS-a2 remains unchanged. IMDS Plus will have its own dedicated order form, which will be introduced at a later stage. We will notify you as soon as the new process is available.
Will there be training available for IMDS Plus?
Our training partners have previously offered sessions for IMDS-a2, and we expect similar training opportunities for IMDS Plus. While we don’t have specific details yet, we’ll share updates as they become available. That said, if you’re already familiar with IMDS and IMDS-a2, you’ll find IMDS Plus intuitive and easy to use.
