IMDS Release 11.0 was rolled out during this week-end of November 12th/13th, 2016.
However, the IMDS Chemistry Manager module had to be deactivated for this rollout so that this functionality is not available yet within IMDS Release 11.0.
We were forced to take this step during the rollout as precaution measure in order to ensure IMDS Release 11.0 will be available on time as announced and regular IMDS operations will not be further impacted.
Of course we are working to resolve the occurred issues so that we can activate the IMDS Chemistry Manager as soon as possible. We will keep you informed.

On Tuesday, 14th June 2016, the following changes and amendments will be applied to the IMDS Application Codes:
- The current 8(f) Application Code will be deactivated and replaced by two new codes:
8(f) (a) - Lead in compliant pin connector systems
8(f) (b) - Lead in compliant pin connector systems other than the mating area of vehicle harness connectors
- There will be a wording change of "Lead in solders for soldering in laminated glazing" to "Lead in solders for soldering of laminated glazing". Where these exist, current (e.g. 8(a), 8(b), 8(c), etc) numbers will be moved to the beginning of the application text. For both amendments existing application data entries for MDSs will match automatically. The related Application IDs do not change.
- In the MDS Detail screen, where applications can be selected, a link to the Application Code Guidance Document by the Automotive OEMs will be added so it can be accessed directly from there.

New GM-specific supplier information
GM is updating GMW3059 and its related List of Restricted and Reportable Substances, CG4110.
Please be aware that this will change GM’s IMDS acceptance criteria.
GM will immediately stop accepting any IMDS entries containing
- DecaBDE (CAS# 1163-19-5),
- HBCD (CAS# 25637-99-4, 3194-55-6) and/or
- LCPFAC/PFOA’s (CAS# 3825-26-1, 335-95-5, 335-67-1),
unless a GMW3059 waiver form is provided together with the IMDS submission, stating the purpose for use and the suppliers plan to eliminate use, including the phase out timing. Any such waivers cannot be in conflict with any regional regulatory requirements for which the products are sold.
GM is encouraging its suppliers to double check internally that the submitted IMDS data represents the current content of the parts delivered to GM.
GM appreciates your efforts and support in this important matter.

07-Mar-2016
On 1st February 2016, the IMDS Terms of Use and IMDS-AI contracts were amended to reflect the decision of the IMDS Steering Committee to allow the transfer of existing IMDS data, only via IMDS-AI to non-IMDS systems under certain specified conditions.
The security and confidentiality of the IMDS system is not affected
The new IMDS Terms of Use do not change the security of the IMDS system, nor do they change the data handling in IMDS. IMDS continues to be the solution for companies working in the automotive supply chain. The new Terms form a statutory framework that allows export of IMDS data for usage in other industries via the IMDS-AI interface. Sending an MDS report to a non-automotive company or manually copying supplier information from an IMDS screen remains prohibited. Companies can only export data they can view (i.e. have accepted or created). IMDS supply chain confidentiality rules continue to apply; Recipients will see only what is visible in IMDS, and supplier identity will not be disclosed. Data marked as confidential is not exported, and thus can never be forwarded outside IMDS. IMDS system behavior has not changed in any way.
IMDS using companies remain responsible for their usage of data obtained from IMDS
It must be stressed that the responsibility for transferring data obtained from IMDS (e.g. via IMDS-AI linkage to external or in-house systems) remains with each IMDS user. Each data-forwarding company is responsible for adhering to the agreed-upon rules in the Terms of Use, especially in ensuring the target system meets the requirement criteria for receipt of IMDS information. These criteria can be found on the IMDS Information pages.
Finally, please understand that we at HPE continue to care for IMDS system security, while you as the users remain responsible for secure IMDS data handling, i.e. to ensure the data is sent only to solutions that meet the required criteria.
The only one responsible to ensure your IMDS company and supplier data is secure is YOU! With this amendment to the Terms of Use, the IMDS Steering Group gives IMDS companies more leeway to leverage IMDS information, but does not absolve you of your responsibility to protect the information.

With IMDS Release 10.0, a check was introduced for MMDSs containing warnings. These could no longer be published, because, in the case of publishing, all warnings would automatically be converted into errors. Due to special cases for some of the material suppliers, this check will be deactivated on 10th March 2016. However, Warning-free MMDSs are treated as “Preferred MMDSs” and the GUI (entry fields etc.) will not be changed.
