Since the introduction of IMDS Release 9.0, some suppliers are finding challenges creating revisions to submit MDSs to their customers according to the newly defined check rule regarding sending/forwarding identical part numbers.
Therefore, the IMDS Steering Committee has decided to change the Error to a Warning, so MDS submission is facilitated for these cases.
Although changed to a Warning Message, companies should follow the new version rule and proceed in accordance to IMDS Recommendation 001, Rules 3.2.2 A/B whenever possible, as long there are no other MDS-related reasons not to comply. The subject will be discussed in the IMDS Steering Committee again, in order to include the New version rule according to IMDS Recommendation 001 in the IMDS check procedure.
Implementation is planned for 23rd June 2014 on the IMDS production server.
