REACH SVHC
REACH SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) in IMDS
Information on "substances of very high concern" (SVHCs) added to the REACH Candidate List must be automatically reported to the recipient of the article if the substance is contained in a concentration higher than 0.1% based on the article weight.
Twice a year, the REACH Candidate List is updated. Each update requires the article producer to recheck his material reporting in IMDS to see if any of his substances replaced by a wildcard or marked confidential is now on the Candidate list. If so, the article producer is required to resend an updated Material Data Sheet to his customer. The IMDS system will run a check of the database when the list is updated to see if any SVHCs are marked confidential and notify the company administrator of the company of the need to update the Material Data Sheet. It is a manual process for the article producer to check Material Data Sheets that have wildcards to see if the substance(s) the wildcard is replacing is now an SVHC. If so, the Material Data Sheet must be resubmitted with the SVHC declared.
Most of the relevant Candidate List Substances will be added to the GADSL. The added substances cannot be marked as confidential and must not be hidden with a wildcard. The latest version of the Candidate List can be found here:
IMDS highlights SVHCs by underlining the substance name in the tree. You can also search your Material Data Sheets for SVHCs through the Analysis > Certificate of Expenditure function in IMDS.
