IMDS Release 12.2 update for the Analysis & Reporting Module
Effective 18th November 2020 some changes in the IMDS-a2 Analysis & Reporting Module were rolled out:
1. A new Substance report is available to export the analysis results, e.g. for a certain Substance Group or Substance List and may be flexibly used for SCIP, Conflict Mineral or other reporting.
2. A new section is added in the "MDS Selection" area with a new "Type of MDS" search attribute. It allows to separately search for MDS / Modules, Components, Semi-components, Materials or within the Outbox.

Oracle Webstart and Oracle Java 8 Replacement
As earlier informed, Oracle changed their licensing policy with impacts to the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) used with IMDS-a2. To enable continued use of IMDS-a2 without further license-costs, you can now replace your JRE 8 installation for your IMDS-a2 with OpenWebStart – a license-cost free, Open Source replacement for the products Oracle JRE and Oracle Webstart.

20 years ago, in 2000, the IMDS went online. What started as a joint development between Audi, BMW, Daimler, EDS (after acquisition in 2008 part of HP, now DXC Technology), Ford, Opel, Porsche, VW and Volvo has now become a global standard used by nearly every global OEM.
Time to take stock of the figures which have been reached:

Effective 17th June 2020 there will be some changes in IMDS which are also reflected in IMDS-a2.

For the IMDS Advanced Interface (IMDS-AI) an update of the IMDS-AI Terms and Conditions became necessary. This update mainly affects the availability of the IMDS test system and the definition of test periods. Additionally, the scope of application and some other wording needed a more precise specification, as well as the order and the billing process obtained further clarification. The service itself and the prices as well as commercial fundamentals like payment terms or liability provisions were not impacted.

Comparison current/new Terms and Conditions
The new IMDS-AI Terms and Conditions will enter into force and will replace the existing ones up from April 1, 2020. Clients with individual IMDS-AI contracts – with no reference to these T&C – are not impacted.
