Data Import
IMDS-a2 CSV Import
The IMDS-a2 supports the import of data from your Inhouse Systems by using the CSV Import interface.
In order to use this generic interface, the Bill of Material (BOM) data from your Inhouse Systems has to be formatted in the way described in the CSV Import file specification. The hierarchical BOM data is typically described in form of a table with rows representing either IMDS nodes or MDS references, pointing to each other and so building up the MDS ingredient trees.
Importing such files, Material Datasheets can be built easily from scratch by referencing received, own or published MDSs. Once imported into the IMDS-a2 application, the MDSs can be further processed & completed. When finally saved in IMDS, they can be used in the IMDS environment the same way as manually entered MDSs.
A comprehensive description of the CSV format and an example to test the import functionality of the IMDS-a2 are available below. It contains a material datasheet (MDS) in a tree representation, including two references to published datasheets in IMDS. It can be viewed/modified by using Microsoft Excel.

Since a variety of Inhouse Systems exists which differs from customer to customer, the CSV Import files containing your BOM data has to be provided by your company.
IMDS Generator
If you are looking for a solution to create the CSV Import files, our partner Substance Analyst is offering tools and services to access some of the common Inhouse System like SAP and others to create these files. The software IMDS Generator extracts the BOM data from your system, merges it with already existing IMDS data like received, own or published datasheets and finally creates CSV Import files. These files can be imported into the IMDS-a2 and made available in IMDS this way.
In addition to the IMDS Generator solution, you will need an IMDS-a2 license.
