Tomorrow, on 27th October 2011, the following two changes will be implemented in IMDS:

  • For MDSs sent to Renault, the current tolerance check percentage (13%) will be amended to 20% allowance for tolerances.
  • Furthermore, a new substance group "Conflict Minerals" will be introduced in IMDS - for further information, please refer to the FAQ on Conflict Minerals (category "System Usage").

Next CLEPA IMDS Suppliers' Group meeting 1st December 2011 in Stuttgart

The next CLEPA IMDS Suppliers' Group meeting will be held in the Conference Center of the Stuttgart Airport on 1st December 2011. The latest status of the IMDS, ELV Directive and REACH will be presented as well as the ongoing Industry works on these issues.
It will be the opportunity to raise any question to the representatives of the IMDS Steering Committee and of the CLEPA IMDS Expert Group on on-going discussions.
Also, the latest and next international activities of CLEPA together with the US suppliers of AIAG and the Japanese suppliers of JAPIA will be explained.

As announced on 6th June 2011, the following IMDS Recommendations are deactivated today:

IMDS003 Rubber (Elastomer) Material Compositions
IMDS010 Plastic Material Compositions
IMDS013 Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Material Compositions

The regulations for MDSs covered by these recommendations are now included in Annex I to Recommendation IMDS001. The new version of IMDS001 and Annex I is available in the screen Recommendations within IMDS.

All Renault B/G/O classification of substances from the basic substances list has been updated. Renault collected information to help their suppliers compare substances previous status, new status and GADSL status. More information is available in this FAQ.

The IMDS Application Codes were updated as follows:

  • Application Code "Solder in electronic circuit boards and other electric applications" will be hidden (still open from last application update in November 2010 due to several supplier requests from the Asian region)
  • Application Codes 10a-d will be added
    10(a) - Electrical and electronic components which contain lead in a glass or ceramic, in a glass or ceramic matrix compound, in a glass-ceramic material, or in a glass-ceramic matrix compound. This exemption does not cover the use of lead in: ¿ glass in bulbs and glaze of spark plugs, ¿ dielectric ceramic materials of components listed under 10(b), 10(c) and 10(d).
    10(b) - Lead in PZT based dielectric ceramic materials of capacitors being part of integrated circuits or discrete semiconductors
    10(c) - Lead in dielectric ceramic materials of capacitors with a rated voltage of less than 125 V AC or 250 V DC
    10(d) - Lead in the dielectric ceramic materials of capacitors compensating the temperature-related deviations of sensors in ultrasonic sonar systems
  • Application Code "Electrical components which contain lead in a glass or ceramic matrix compound except glass in bulbs and glaze of spark plugs" is still due to be hidden (Planned: January 2012)

IMDS Release 7.1 Update - Nissan Parts Marking Change

Monday, May 30th, there will be an adjustment on the Nissan Motors specific Parts Marking Check.

The adjustment is on the threshold of attached document. Up to May 30 these thresholds were counted as inside the lower range. But of May 30 they will be count as inside the upper range.

IMDS Release 7.1 Update - Nissan-specific enhancements

On Monday, 18th April 2011, the postponed Nissan-specific enhancements (see News entry from 21-Mar-2011) will be rolled out to the IMDS production server. Due to this rollout, there will be a downtime of about 30 minutes (12.30h-13.00h GMT+2).

  Details of these changes (only item 1. is concerned - the other items were already rolled out on 24th March 2011)

Due to the current situation in Japan we do have to change the release announced on 04-Mar-2011.

The release will be done on 24-Mar-2011 as already announced, but the Nissan specific enhancements will be excluded. (this change will be postponed until further notice).

Recyclate information for materials of the classifications 7.1/7.2:
Recyclate information only has to be entered in MDSs with classifications 7.1/7.2 created on 27th January 2011 or later. This was already mentioned in the news message from 21st January 2011.

Older datasheets with these materials do not have to be updated in this respect - even if they are referenced in new datasheets. From 24th March 2011 on, open datasheets in the "Received" area referencing datasheets with classifications 7.1 and 7.2 from before 27th January 2011 can still be accepted.

By March 15th 2011, the phone number of the Japanese IMDS Service Center will change. The new phone number will be +81-3-4530-9270.

It is planned that changes will be implemented in IMDS on 24th March 2011 comprising:

- several Nissan Motors-specific enhancements,
- a Toyota-specific enhancement,
- changes to the Inbox check in IMDS and
- a minor change in the User Administration screen for Company Administrators.

  Details of these changes

On 17th March 2011, Nissan will hold a meeting to explain the new functions to their global suppliers.

After those functions implemented, Nissan suppliers will see the messages of both checks: the IMDS checks and Nissan-specific checks before sending. The objective of this enhancement is to let suppliers check Nissan's requirements before sending an MDS.

Please be informed that from March 1st GM Daewoo (Company ID 49482) will change its name to GM Korea. Please note that this name change will also be visible in IMDS. From March 1st onwards GM Daewoo will be named GM Korea in IMDS.

On March 7th 2011, Volvo Car Corporation will switch from Ford Motor Company GSDB supplier codes to VCC Partner supplier codes in IMDS. More information and a cross-reference list with Ford/VCC parent codes and a list with VCC parent/site codes can be found in VCC's public IMDS FAQs.

On January 27th 2011, the following changes to IMDS Release 7.1 will be carried out:

1. Adaptation of Weight Limit < 1,000,000 kg for Semi-Components and Materials when used under a Component - Currently in IMDS Rel. 7.1 up to 1,000 kg weight can be entered for semi-components and materials in components. This change will allow adding up to 1,000,000 kg due to specific needs of the truck industry. (This was announced on 05th November 2010)

2. Add Classifications 7.1 and 7.2 to recyclate relevant material classifications - Up to now, the recyclate information in IMDS has to be entered for classifications in the categories 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. On decision of the IMDS SC, this has additionally to be entered for classifications 7.1 and 7.2 for newly created datasheets.
